What is Explorers for Christ?

For kids in grades 1st through 5th, exploring the Bible has never been more fun and exciting.  The exploring begins each Sunday morning at 9:30.  The teachers are dedicated and ready to share the love of Jesus Christ with each child that walks into our classroom.  They dress the part of the theme that is being represented for each set of lessons and greet your child with a smile ready and eager to share God’s message.

The first Sunday of each month is dedicated to Missions.  We explore a country and the people who live in it.  They even get to taste a food that is made in that country.  We teach the children that we may not always be able to go to the countries that we learn about but we can all be a part of spreading news about Jesus Christ through giving to BGMC (Boys and Girls Missions Crusade), a program were kids fill up small boxes with spare change or money they have earned in some way.  This money goes to missionaries around the world to help them get supplies needed to reach the people of the country God has called them to.  Another way is through prayer.  The children are sent home with a newsletter with prayer requests for the country studied that month.  We all may not be called to these mission fields in other countries but there is always a way to be a part of what God is doing all around us.

The rest of the month is dedicated to a weekly curriculum. We explore a Bible lesson, we say lesson because there is always a nugget of truth that the kids can take with them and apply directly to their lives.  This lesson is explored through crafts, games, a puppet skit and a scripture verses.  But it doesn’t end with that…there is also praise and worship.  We believe there is no reason each child cannot have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at that special moment of entering into His presence just as the adults experience in their service.  This is your child’s time to enter into God’s presence and worship Him.  Not worrying about those around them but taking advantage of the time they have to get all of God they possibly can before leaving.  They are encouraged to be free in worship by raising their hands, closing their eyes or just kneeling in the presence of God and just worshiping Him.  We also have a prayer and altar time.  This is when the entire morning is wrapped up into that nugget of truth and the kids have a chance to apply that truth directly to their lives and talk to God like they would their best friend.  Also, this is their time to hear from God.  To many times when we pray we ask, ask, and ask and we forget to listen.  The kids are encouraged to listen as well as talk to God.  Kids are never too young to hear the voice of God directing them.

They are challenged weekly to:
·               Read the word and have a quiet time with the Lord.
·               To tell someone about Jesus Christ.
·               To learn scripture so they can hide God’s Word in their hearts.
·               To become more like Christ and less of themselves.

So you see Explorers for Christ is not just the name of our kids program for grades 1st through 5th it is who they are encouraged to become when entering into the classroom and entering the mission field each day.
